Cincinnati, February 24, 2014. A lawsuit has been filed against the Brown County Coroner for her outrageous conduct at the death scene of Brown County resident Hansen Jones in August, 2013.  She took charge of the death scene, failed to coordinate with the Brown County Sheriff in any way, did no meaningful investigation and abandoned several large pieces of skull scattered about in the home.  Also abandoned at the scene was a shotgun, the probable weapon causing death, several shotgun shells, gloves, toe tags and other items.  Plaintiff Donna Elfers, sister of the deceased was shocked and horrified by the fact that large skull pieces were present.  After she asked the Coroner what to do she was told to bury them under a tree.  She was also told of a political feud between the Coroner and the Sheriff.  Lead Counsel, Al Gerhardstein stated that, “We hope through this case to encourage the Coroner to stop using Brown County deaths as a pawn in her political feud with the Sheriff.  Brown County residents deserve fair and thorough death scene investigations and deserve to have their deceased loved ones treated with dignity and respect.  Hopefully this lawsuit will help make that happen.”

The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Co-counsel is attorney Jennifer Branch.
