8.12.16. Today District Court Judge Michael Barrett issued a permanent injunction prohibiting the Ohio Department of Health from enforcing Ohio’s unconstitutional law to de-fund Planned Parenthood statewide. Ohio’s law violated Planned Parenthood’s First Amendment rights and Due Process rights, the Court found. Planned Parenthood in Ohio operates 28 health centers and provides a wide range of care to women including free breast and cervical cancer screening, free STI screening and treatment, education programs for teens to learn about abstinence and contraception in order to reduce teen pregnancy, free HIV education and testing, among many other public health initiatives.
