April 5, 2016, Cincinnati, Ohio.  The family of Jason Pittman has filed a federal civil rights and wrongful death lawsuit challenging the lack of medical care leading to his death.  Mr. Pittman was only 25 years old when he entered the Warren County Jail in September, 2015 on charges based on a nonviolent crime.  He suffered from heroin withdrawal, a fact known to the jail medical staff who failed to provide adequate treatment.  Jason died of dehydration after suffering painful withdrawal symptoms for several days. Family attorney Al Gerhardstein stated, “Jason is another victim of heroin which challenges many families in our area. Proper steps to treat withdrawal are well known.  Failure to take those steps made his death foreseeable and preventable. His two children deserved better care for their dad.”  The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Cincinnati Ohio.  Co-counsel are Jennifer Branch and Adam Gerhardstein.
